I’m so excited you came across my Photography Business! My name is Angela. My maiden name is Needs and my married name is Shipps, in case you were wondering. I became a photographer over 20 years ago. I studied film photography in college and photographed my first wedding in 2002 and have been hooked ever since.
I began my journey in photography with my first born, as a single mother. Once I graduated from College I really hit the ground running. My first year as a wedding photographer I photographed 17 weddings. I must have done something right because the following year I photographed over 40 weddings and by the 3rd year over 60! I was hooked. I even met my husband at a wedding I photographed!
I have now photographed over 800 weddings and more babies than I can even count. I am so fortunate to have worked for some of the BEST families in Kansas City and I am so grateful that so many of my couples loved my work enough to bring me along to capture their family’s journey. I can’t tell you how amazing it is to follow a couple thru all of the most special moments of their lives. I get to watch their excitement for one another when I take their engagement photos. Then, to witness them make the most important decision of their lives in front of their loved ones. I sometimes get to be the first person they share their big news with when they are expecting. I have photographed Mothers bringing life into the world and Fathers holding their children when they are still small enough to fit into the palm of their hands. I get to mold newborn babies into snugly swaddles and smash cake with babies on their first Birthdays. I get to be their for so many 1st. I can’t tell you enough, how wonderful it is to do what I do.
I have been blessed to have so many high school seniors, return to hire me to photograph their weddings and families that call me when their is something big to celebrate. It really is one of the BEST jobs in the world. Thru my lens I have captured little boys hitting home-runs one day, then in the blink of the eye, photographed them in their new college t-shirt while taking their senior portraits. I have photographed sweet little flower girls walking down the isle that turn into beautiful Brides that get to kiss the Groom. I think my most precious memory as a photographer was when I photographed the Baby of a couple who’s wedding I photographed and 18 years later photographed her walking down the isle and her bringing her newborn in to meet Mrs. Angela for her first portrait.
I’m sure with all of these stories you might think I am old and gray… BUT I’m still running circles around couples at their weddings! I am still chasing down that 2 year old for his annual birthday session and I am still singing Taylor Swift songs with Senior Girls while we drive from one location to another for their senior photos.
Working with my clients is such a BIG part of my life, and a big part of who I am. I have built a business WITH my clients’ needs in mind the entire way. I like to think of myself as a family tradition, kind of like a family doctor. At the same time, my clients have been my biggest supporters. I haven’t had to advertise, pay for expensive google listings, or gravel for business my entire career. A client even set up my Facebook Page!
I LOVE the life I have created personally and professionally and I hope I get the chance to share my talent with you someday!
Malerie Temple
I Hi, Nice to meet you!! My name is Malerie Temple! I am a 23-year-old photographer based in Kansas City. I have wanted to be a photographer for as long as I can remember and work at it daily. Telling people I wanted to be ‘a person that takes pictures' when asked what I wanted to be when I grew up (because I couldn't remember the word photographer, haha). Starting at a young age, I would take photos of my little sister as my 'model' with my iPod touch and an easel as the tripod in our backyard. Then I got my first camera in 2014 or 2015!
In 2021 I graduated High School, and in September 2020, I started working for a Successful Kansas City photographer. This will be my 6th year working for her. Working there has taught me so much about the photography world and business. I’m a featured photographer on her website and her 2nd shooter for weddings!
My goal with my business is to give my clients photos they love that tells a story about them individually. That they can always go back to years later and remember that moment in their life, and it puts a genuine smile on their faces! Whether it's an engagement, wedding, or a senior session.
